History of Car

       Car listeningly we understand as a private four wheel  automobile which we especially use for our family while we go for tour and from one place to another place and in normally of our daily life.in this days the cars have been famous among all of the people but if we return back to the history and see then the firstly car in the worlds history was made by Ferdinand Verbiest. Born in Flanders in 1623. the car has the steam techonology which includes a boiler over a burning fire that makes the back wheel to rotate front wards.
        

              After the invention of Ferdinand Verbiest  many other attempts were made for to buil up the self-propelled vehicles but were unsuccess.An American inventor named Oliver Evans built the "Oruktor Amphibolis", a steam-powered dredging device that became more powerful and elaborate with each subsequent retelling,




         From 1780  and in the mean time of  1800   and  1900  different attempt were made for the vehicles and  cars but  in 1901  In 1901, Thomas Edison developed the recharcheable nickel-iron battery, a technology he hoped to see implemented in electric cars which was modified than his before inventions.






                               After 1900 many gasoline cars were made and many tried for the new models and some success  and  some left their projects in the middle too. but after waiting for the years Wilhelm Maybach developed the 35-hp Mercedes, which was the first “real” automobile by present-day standards. This new Daimler caused a revolution in March 1901 and became the worldwide standard for automobiles.Its front-mounted four-cylinder in-line engine was bolted directly to the new, pressed-steel frame and had the sensational output of 35 hp (26 kW). The engine speed was regulated between 300 and 1000 rpm by a lever on the steering wheel. The cylinders and cylinder head formed a single unit, and for the first time the crankcase was made of aluminum. The power-to-weight ratio was now only 6.6 kilograms per horsepower, and one year later it fell to just 4.6 kg/hp. The intake valves were no longer controlled automatically, but by camshaft.
              

During the first decade of the 20th century, significant progress was achieved in engine design, including the overhead camshaft with vertical shaft drive and overhead valves. Experiments were carried out at a very early stage with three-valve technology and double ignition, as well as with four-valve technology and triple ignition – technologies which boosted output but did not prevail for the time being.

Before World War I, Mercedes racing cars already played a dominant role in European motor sport. Mercedes passenger cars gained more and more customers by virtue of their high performance and great reliability – virtues which were impressively demonstrated by victories in motor racing. World War I put an end to all civilian development work, however one thing was sure: the internal combustion engine had become indispensable, whether mobile, stationary or as a power plant for vehicles, ships and aircraft.
